What people THINK is true about weight loss stalls
A stall means keto has stopped working.
If my weight isn’t changing it means I am doing something wrong.
I need drastic changes to break a stall.
Exercise is the key to getting the scale moving.
If I’m stalled I need to restrict my food more.
What is ACTUALLY true about weight loss stalls
Size and shape often change even when your weight stays the same.
Fat loss isn’t linear – it’s completely normal to have weeks and months when the scale doesn’t move.
Simple, sustainable shifts beat extreme tricks every time.
Food drives weight loss – troubleshoot your diet first.
Food is primary, but don’t ignore stress, sleep, hormones and other factors that influence fat loss.
Scales aren’t the best way to assess how you’re doing on a keto diet – even when your main goal is weight loss. It’s not unusual for your size and shape to change even when your weight doesn’t move. (This is called body recomposition.) Plus it’s totally normal for there to be weeks and months when the scale doesn’t budge. This doesn’t mean you are doing something wrong or that keto isn’t working anymore. It’s just human physiology.
Staying at the same weight for a while doesn’t automatically mean you need to do something differently. But if it’s been a few months and neither your weight nor your size has changed consider whether you do need to tweak your food or address lifestyle issues that could be holding things up.
